In this episode of The Surfcast Podcast, Jerry and Toby kick off a new segment in which they discuss a topic from surfcasting history or lore that has gone out of fashion for one reason or another. The topic this time around is the Goo Goo Eyes plug, first produced by Leo Cooper of Stamford, Connecticut in the 1950s. Over the years some outstanding catches have been made on the various Goo Goo Eyes models, including Charlie Cinto’s 73-pounder landed by boat off Cuttyhunk, Massachusetts. Designed as a boat trolling plug, it didn’t take long for surfcasters to put it to good use as well, and the guys recount some stories of their own made over the years.
