Long time angler that has seen it all but relatively new to the podcast so you may have gone over this..anyways..was on a steady bite of fish last night in the high teens to high 20’s..almost every cast for a couple hours and thought to myself ‘wonder what those guys do to try and pull the biggest fish out of a bite like that?’ Love the show..appreciate y’all🤙🏼
Why do people who say color doesn’t matter not fish certain colors “because color doesn’t matter”. Ex- hey do you want to use this parrot darter tonight? No, I don’t use those types of colors because color doesn’t matter to me, I only fish black or white. IF BLACK OR WHITE ARE THE ONLY COLORS YOU WILL USE THAT MEANS COLORS MATTER TO YOU!! Sorry rant over. Wait, if you had a jointed darter and you had faith in the integrity of the joint- what conditions would you say “ya know what let me use that jointed dater right now”. Peace!
Sea Cow tournament!!! I have at least 4 or 5 to give out!!
Did you do the rod giveaway yet for the saltx II??
Would you guys do a Tropics getaway, say rent a huge house and get as many close lip friends to do a fly fishing for black tips getaway?? Rent Pete and not even go fish the same night just to save some Muula.. I can cook some pretty decent BBQ not gonna lie
Ayy there i replied earlier and realized I could come off as arrogant say ‘ I’ve seen it all’ I really just meant I’m not a newbie been at it for a long time and am interested in your thoughts…just didn’t want it takin the wrong way..thanks
If fishing from the sand, is there a point where the surf is too big to successfully surfcast? Giant south swell here in Cali and the bite was hot right before. Does surf size effect fish in the surf?
Looking for some photography advice. I’ve been using an Olympus TG camera for almost 20 years for surfcasting and other outdoor adventures. My friends pick on me for still using a point and shoot camera, but I digress….
My question is, how and where do you carry it while wet suiting (if at all)? While on the beach or rocks, it’s not usually a problem. But in heavy surf, it becomes difficult to fit it into my over-stuffed surf bag. Especially with a small Gorilla Grip tripod. Any camera-carrying hints, tricks, or advice?? Thanks!
There are so many. Would love to hear your options on why jig heads over weighted swimbait hooks. Make of hook aside.( Beast/titan diver).
A follow up on darters. I can not get the hang of using them. Don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
Or follow up on Junior challenge actually had one snapped in half and it only had the front hook. Fish hit like a freight train, and was not a big fish.
Those beast hooks tend to break, the bkk style are much better , jigheads if you can use them in your area , my area I’m limited to shallow water ,I can’t use anymore than 3/4 oz .
I was more interested in why jig heads. I would think a center weight would give more of a level sink. A jig would make it dive face first into the bottom. Or would tail weighting for a longer cast but what would that do to the action? I’ve mainly done a weighted hook or nail weights for a more level sink. But on the pod cast they seem to favor a jig head forward weighting.
What advice would you give to those that live over 4 hours from the ocean? I typically stay 5 to 6 days/nights at a beach on my vacation. I try to be aware of general conditions such as wind, weather and tides. I generally know how the recent fishing has been at the section of coast that I am traveling to, but perhaps there is something I am overlooking?
Last podcast you started talking about do you know if there are fish there. Toby talked about the follows. How about how do you get the fish to “commit”. I fish flies and get lots of follows but the fish usually turn away.
Thanks. Love the podcasts.
Have you guys tried the BKK fast snaps? I just ordered the #80 to try out.
I don’t use the BKK Fast snap. But I use the BKK duo lock #51. Think they are great. BKK makes I great product don’t see why they won’t work well.
I have a question.
You guys fish sand beaches why do you use a 250 vs just wondering why you need a reel that large for fishing other than a boat ?
